Home Visit Program

Strengthening School-Home Connections

It is our goal at HSA Des Moines to make every attempt to contact and meet each family whose students attend our school. In an effort to accomplish this task, we make home visits throughout the school year. It is important for us to convey to our parents and guardians that the education of their children is our top priority.

What is the Home Visit Program?

Each year, a selected group of students and their families will receive a home visit from our dedicated school staff. These visits will be designed to:

Why Home Visits Matter

Schools within Concept Schools’ network have found that home visits are one of the most effective ways to build stronger relationships with students and their families. Studies show that students who received at least one home visit scored 5% higher on standardized tests and 7% higher with two or more visits compared to those with none. By creating a welcoming partnership, students feel supported both at home and in school.

Family Engagement and Participation

HSA Des Moines encourages its families to participate in the Home Visit Program given the benefits for its students, their families, and our school. However, parents/guardians can opt to not receive a home visit if they choose.

There are multiple ways in which HSA Des Moines gets parents/guardians involved with the school. They can participate in educational projects (like our science fair), various competitions (e.g. our robotics club), national and international trips, educational camps, school events, and all other school-related activities throughout the year.

Together, we create a supportive learning environment where every student thrives both in and out of the classroom.
